Peranakan Museum

The Peranakan Museum showcases the unique Baba-Nyonya (Peranakan) culture, a blend of Malay and Chinese traditions that is distinctly Southeast Asian. Recently reopened after renovations, the museum now features a more spacious layout and modern exhibition styles. The displays include Peranakan attire (such as the intricate kebaya), beaded shoes, porcelain, wedding artifacts, and home furnishings, each reflecting the community's appreciation for aesthetic beauty in daily life. Through multimedia presentations and interactive designs, visitors can immerse themselves in the Peranakan way of life, wedding customs, and culinary traditions. Although the museum is not large, it offers rich and in-depth content. If you're interested in multiculturalism or the history of Southeast Asian Chinese communities, this is definitely a place worth visiting. It is recommended to allocate 1–1.5 hours to explore each gallery thoroughly.
