Stavros Beach (Zorba) & Akrotiri Lighthouse, Chania

#summervacay On Crete’s northwest coast, Stavros Beach was instantly familiar when I saw locals dancing the “Zorba” in the sand—yes, it’s the beach from Zorba the Greek! Beyond the movie nostalgia, the beach is lovely—white pebbles, calm Aegean waves, and a laid-back atmosphere. Nearby, the red-and-white Akrotiri Lighthouse perched on the cliffs made for a lovely seaside stroll. I alternated swimming and wandering along rocky pathways, feeling cinematic and serene.
