Popular Picnic Spot in Suwon

Recently, Banghwasuryujeong has become a hot spot for picnics in Suwon. This two-story pavilion was built during the Joseon Dynasty as the northeastern watchtower of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. The scenic views of Yongyeon Pond and the surrounding area are so stunning that the pavilion served not only as a military facility but also as a place to enjoy the scenery. The view of Banghwasuryujeong from Yongyeon Pond below is particularly beautiful, and the large grassy area makes it an ideal spot for picnics. The reflection of the moon on Yongyeon Pond, known as Yongjidaewol, is one of Suwon's Eight Scenic Views and is famous for its breathtaking night and winter landscapes.
