Courtyard Marriott Suwon Deluxe Suite Experience

After having lunch in Yongsan, I check in around 4 PM. Since the line had cleared by 3 PM, I only had to wait behind one group before being assisted. Oh! I had booked a suite, but they upgraded me. 😍 I was upgraded from a Premier Suite to a Deluxe Suite. This is a rare occurrence, happening only about 30 times out of 300 stays in Japan. Thank you! 🙏 The hotel is 23 stories high, and I was assigned a room on the 21st floor with a lake view. However, three apartment buildings over 30 stories tall block the view, so the lake is only partially visible between the buildings. 🤣 Perhaps the view of Gwanggyo Xi on the opposite side might be better. Although it’s a city view, you can see mountains in the distance and enjoy an open, expansive feeling across the four-lane road. I was staying alone, but a friend planned to join me early the next morning for breakfast. Since my plans for Happy Hour fell through, I ended up enjoying it alone. It felt familiar. After taking some photos of the room and relaxing, I headed to Happy Hour. The lounge is located on the top floor, the 23rd. There are even two tables in the terrace area. The window view offers Gwanggyo Xi, while the terrace provides a slight lake view. Compared to other places, the Happy Hour selection is modest. There are three main dishes, along with bread, cheese, desserts, fruits, and alcoholic beverages. There’s a draft beer machine, and three types of wine are available: red, white, and sangria. However, sparkling wine is not included. Overall, it feels similar to an airport lounge. The room, thanks to the upgrade, is in excellent condition. About one-third of the room’s area is taken up by the bathroom, which is even larger and more spacious than the suite I stayed in at Atami, Japan. The shower booth and toilet are separate, and there’s a freestanding bathtub in a space large enough to fit a king-sized bed. The vanity area features a dressing table and two sinks facing each other. The bathroom alone seems to be about 8 pyeong (approximately 26.4 square meters). The living room and bedroom are clearly separated by a partition and doors on both sides, and the restroom is accessible from both the bedroom and living room. It seems the spaciousness is achieved by having only one restroom. The soundproofing is well-designed, blocking outside noise, and closing the partition doors adds a bit more quiet. Parking is limited to one car per room, and the system requires re-registration after each exit. Breakfast is currently a regular breakfast served at Suwon Kitchen on the 2nd floor. I went after 8:30 AM when there were plenty of empty seats. Although I was initially guided to a two-person window seat, I requested a four-person inner seat. There was a bit of back-and-forth, but the manager eventually accommodated my request. The breakfast is average, but the bread is of very high quality. The croissants are absolutely delicious. However, the udon noodles were disappointing in both texture and broth. Outside of Happy Hour, the lounge allows free access to drinks and cookies. The cookies, whether store-bought or homemade, are incredibly tasty. Thank you.
