A distinctive guesthouse in Suzhou, transformed from a century-old girls' school

Located in Tongli, a water town in Jiangnan, there is a historic girls' school from the Republic of China era, nestled among the grey bricks and black tiles. It conceals a beautiful Jiangnan garden, bearing witness to the vicissitudes and splendor of the years. This school, the Lizhe Girls' School, was established by Ren Chuanxin, the second-generation owner of the Tuisi Garden, who spent his entire fortune on it. After meticulous restoration and transformation, it has become the fifth branch of Huajiantang in the Jiangnan water towns—Suzhou Tongli Huajiantang•Lizhe Girls' Academy. Design The hotel consists of two parts: the ancient-style garden and the Lizhe Girls' Academy. The design fully respects the original spatial layout of the building, ingeniously combining the literary and artistic temperament of the Republic of China with the aesthetics of classical gardens. The garden retains the bluestone paths, old trees, and the historical feel of the buildings, while integrating the aesthetic elements of Huajiantang, with colorful, literary home decor, and the changing of the seasons. Rooms With 59 uniquely designed rooms, using color and material as elements, they tell the story of a woman's growth from an innocent girl to a knowledgeable and elegant lady of society. The rooms start at 30 square meters, combining a sense of the era with refinement. The attention to detail is heartwarming: custom bath products, soft bathrobes and bedding, heated towel racks, various charging cables, and the soothing warmth of floral tea. Amenities In terms of activities, this century-old building with seven bays and three floors, which used to be a teaching building, has now become an ideal place for leisure, reading, and exercise. A multi-functional laboratory, an open library, a yoga room, and a shared wooden table classroom space add more character to the lifestyle of Huajiantang. In addition, the store regularly holds workshops on traditional crafts such as fans, sachets, and bookmarks, allowing guests to experience the charm of traditional culture in their leisure time.
