Taishan Welcomes Two Meteor Showers This Summer

Three epic meteor showers are about to light up the summer night sky! From mid to late July through early August, while the summer heat is at its peak, Taishan offers a cool invitation from the cosmos—three meteor showers will streak across the night sky, colliding beautifully with the majestic mountain scenery. The Capricornus Alpha meteor shower starts its "shift" on July 12, with a peak expected from July 29 to 30. Although it only produces about 5 meteors per hour, each one is a "bright star." Even from towns at the foot of the mountain, you can easily catch their graceful trails across the night sky. The moonlight is faint at this time of year, so if you look up after 10 p.m., you might just catch an "unexpected delight." Following closely is the Perseid meteor shower, one of the three major meteor showers in the Northern Hemisphere. It begins on July 17 and will reach its peak from August 12 to 13.
