Tainan Attractions｜Chihkan Tower Wenchang Pavilion

Chihkan Tower in Tainan is a Chinese temple built by the Han people on the foundation of the "Fort Provintia" originally built by the Dutch. Most of the Chihkan Towers we see today are Confucian and Taoist temples built by the Han people on top of the Dutch castle, including the Temple of the Sea God and Wenchang Pavilion. In 1960, nine Beishi steles were moved from the Great South Gate City, and finally became the present appearance. Therefore, the so-called Chihkan Tower is a mixture of the remains of the European-style Fort Provintia, the Temple of the Sea God, and the Wenchang Pavilion.
