Good Places to Go in October｜Tainan Confucius Temple

#OctoberGoodDestinations2024 Confucius Temple, also known as "Wen Temple", Tainan Confucius Temple is the earliest Confucian Temple in Taiwan, dating back to the 19th year of the Yongli reign of the Ming Dynasty, which was 1665 AD. Before the late Qing Dynasty, the temple was the highest government-run institution of higher learning in Taiwan, and was therefore honored as the "First School in Taiwan." The architectural layout of the Confucius Temple emphasizes "school on the left and temple on the right", that is, the holy temple where Confucius is worshipped is the core, and the Minglun Hall is built next to it for hiring teachers and selecting talents. As you enter the Confucius Temple, the red tiles and red walls are set against the lush green trees, creating a solemn and peaceful atmosphere. Outside the temple is a good place for citizens to relax, with children playing here, couples taking a leisurely stroll, and old people gathering together to play chess and chat. These warm scenes all reveal the leisure and tranquility of the city of Tainan.
