Just a short drive of less than an hour north from Tainan city center, you’ll find yourself in a tranquil, natural, and healing retreat: Liuying Jianshanpi Resort. This time, I stayed in a lakeside room, and waking up to the shimmering lake view right outside my window was truly refreshing. Compared to bustling tourist spots, this place feels more like a green sanctuary designed for relaxation. 🌿 Jianshanpi Reservoir Right at Your Doorstep, Full of Natural Charm The resort is located next to Jianshanpi Reservoir, also known as "Jiangnan Resort." Surrounded by lush mountains and featuring a beautiful artificial lake, the area is complemented by wooden walkways and a stunning bald cypress forest along the shore, giving you the illusion of being in a quaint foreign forest town. Whether you’re looking for a morning stroll or a sunset photo session, the lake and mountain scenery here won’t disappoint. The reflections on the water make for particularly stunning photographs! 🏨 Comfortable Accommodation for Families and Couples Alike I stayed in a "Lakeside Cabin," a standalone unit with a spacious balcony. The room was quiet and roomy, perfect for sipping tea on the balcony or falling asleep to the sound of chirping insects at night. The resort also offers luxurious villas and group-friendly lodge-style rooms, catering to families, couples, or small groups. There are plenty of public spaces too, including a kids’ playroom, bike rentals, a forest adventure zone, and even a small animal area where children can get up close with sika deer and goats—ideal for family trips! 🚴 Eco Trails + Light Exercise, Just the Right Amount Jianshanpi Resort features a well-designed trail system, with a loop around the lake spanning about 3–4 kilometers. Along the way, you’ll encounter suspension bridges, viewing platforms, shaded tunnels, and bald cypress-lined shores, making it perfect for a morning or evening forest walk. It’s not too strenuous, allowing you to sweat a little while clearing your mind. You’ll also spot various insects, birds, and even squirrels along the trail. The paths are very accessible, suitable even for seniors. 🍽️ Impressive Dining with Local Ingredients and Scenic Views For dinner, we chose the "Mountain View Restaurant" within the resort, which features dishes made with local ingredients from southern Taiwan. The roasted sturgeon, crispy duck breast, and signature bucket chicken were all delightful surprises. The dining area overlooks the lake, letting you enjoy the reflections on the water while savoring your meal—a true feast for the senses.
