Taormina – Sicily’s Hilltop Treasure

During our recent trip to Sicily, we spent a few unforgettable days in Taormina, and it completely won us over. Perched on a hillside overlooking the Ionian Sea, this charming town is full of history, culture, and postcard-perfect views. It’s the kind of place where every corner feels like a movie set – and there's plenty to explore. 🏛 What to See 1. Greek Theatre (Teatro Greco) One of the most famous landmarks in Taormina, this ancient amphitheatre offers not only a journey into the past but also one of the best views of Mount Etna and the coastline. A must-visit! 2. Piazza IX Aprile The main square of Taormina is lively, beautiful, and offers panoramic views over the sea. Lined with cafes and churches, it’s perfect for a relaxing break or a sunset photo. 3. Villa Comunale A peaceful public garden with shady paths, exotic plants, and stunning sea views. Great for a quiet walk away from the crowds. 4.Isola Bella This tiny island connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of beach is perfect for swimming or just enjoying the sun and scenery. Don’t forget your water shoes! 5.Chiesa di San Giuseppe A lovely Baroque church right in Piazza IX Aprile – small but elegant, and a perfect photo spot. 🍴 Where to Eat ▪︎ Ristorante La Buca - a cozy spot offering delicious Sicilian dishes, especially seafood. It’s tucked away just off the main street and has a warm, friendly atmosphere. ▪︎ Cinque Archi Ristorante For a more refined dinner, Cinque Archi delivers on both taste and presentation. The view is lovely, and the pistachio-based dishes are a highlight. 🛏 Where to Stay We stayed at A Coffa Rooms, a stylish and well-located guesthouse in the center of town. The rooms are modern and clean, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming. It made exploring Taormina on foot super easy. #siciliansea..
