Every year in mid-April, when the mountain is just opened, a road through the snow wall is opened in the Murodo-daira area at an altitude of about 2,450 meters. These snow walls are more than 10 meters high, and even more than 20 meters high, like a snow canyon, so it is called the "Great Snow Wall" or "Snow Otani". This large snow wall was shoveled out by a large snowplow to open traffic, and thick snow is retained on both sides, forming a spectacular scene like a giant white wall. Visitors can walk and take photos between the snow walls (Snow Otani Trail) and experience the overwhelming power of snow in person. It is a very topical experience in Japan's spring tourism.
