I recommend a hidden gem of a hotel.

I'm about to leave the Guanfang Hotel after a 6-night stay. Before checking in, many people mentioned that the hotel was quite old, but there weren't really any better options in the city center... After checking in, I realized it's truly a hidden gem. As Tengchong's first five-star hotel, its rich heritage is still evident. The entire hotel is like a massive tropical garden. While the room amenities aren't brand new, they are impeccably maintained, and the quality of the decor absolutely lives up to its five-star rating. The indoor and outdoor pools and hot springs, open for extended hours, were a favorite spot for the kids. Beyond the hardware, the software is also commendable: the ever-present garden maintenance, the attentive room service, the daily complimentary local fruits, the punctual breakfast delivery, the turndown service with warm milk and snacks – every detail made me feel incredibly comfortable, just the right amount of attentiveness without being overbearing. My room was located next to the scenic pool, and little squirrels would occasionally scamper through the small garden outside, creating the perfect vacation vibe. If I return to Tengchong, the Guanfang Hotel will likely be my top choice.
