Kanda Shrine "Suijinmon"

Passing through the torii gate from Hongo-dori, you come into view a magnificent two-story gate called Suishinmon Gate. The Suishinmon Gate was built in 1975 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Showa's accession to the throne. Made entirely of cypress, its vibrant vermilion and gold leaf jump out at you. Looking closely, you will see the fierce and beautiful four gods of Suzaku, Byakko, Seiryu, and Genbu on the outside. The inside is decorated with wonderful carvings based on mythological motifs. The vital sacred horses on both sides are also a sight to behold. It is so majestic that it captivates you every time you see it, and it is a gate worthy of Kanda Myojin, the main shrine of Edo.
