Tomioka Hachiman Shrine

#FuriTabi Tomioka Hachiman Shrine is a Hachiman shrine located in Tomioka, Koto-ku, Tokyo. It is also commonly known as Fukagawa Hachiman Shrine. It is the largest Hachiman shrine in Edo, and the Fukagawa Hachiman Festival, held in August, is one of the three major festivals in Edo. It is also the shrine where Edo Kanjin Sumo originated, and many stone monuments related to professional sumo, including the Yokozuna Rikishi Monument, have been erected within the shrine grounds. The Fukagawa/Monzen-Nakacho area is close to the city center, but still retains a downtown atmosphere. With shopping streets and historical sites, it is a recommended town for strolling and sightseeing. The nearest station is Monzen-Nakacho Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line, a 3-minute walk from Exit 1. It is also a 6-minute walk from Monzen-Nakacho Station on the Toei Subway Oedo Line, and a 15-minute walk from Etchujima Station on the JR Keiyo Line.
