Namiyoke Shrine in Tsukiji, Tokyo ⛩️ This shrine is located at the back of Tsukiji Market, a seafood market and gourmet tourist destination, and is said to have the power to ward off evil, disasters, and prosperity in business, and is loved by people who work at Tsukiji Market 🌊 About 370 years ago, during the Edo period 🏯 As part of the expansion of Edo Castle, the entire Tsukiji area, which was once surrounded by sea, was being reclaimed, but the construction was slow to progress due to the effects of the waves. They are at their wits' end. One night, people discovered the deity Inari Okami floating on the sea, emitting a divine light. They immediately built a shrine and enshrined the deity, and the raging waves calmed down, and the land reclamation work was successfully completed. 🥸 As soon as you enter the shrine grounds, you will see magnificent red and black "lion heads" dedicated on both sides, and during the annual summer festival, the "Tsukiji Lion Festival," several people carry these "lion heads" and parade through Tsukiji! It's pretty big, so it looks like it'll be even more impressive during festivals.
