Vietnam's World Heritage Site: Dinh Tien Hoang Shrine

I went to Dinh Tien Hoang Pagoda, a World Heritage Site in Ninh Binh Province, about a two-hour drive from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It is located on the site of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, which gained independence from China over 1,000 years ago, and is said to enshrine the first and second kings. There was a painting at the entrance that depicted what it looked like at the time. The grounds of the first and second buildings are similar in design, but the second building is simpler. Only the first building had a guardian beast (?) that looked like a mix of a dragon and a horse. The grounds have a small pond and are surrounded by rice fields, creating a peaceful atmosphere. There seems to be a bicycle rental shop nearby, and I saw people getting around on bicycles.
