Eltz Castle is a medieval castle nestled on a hill above the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier in Germany. The castle has been owned by the Eltz family, who have lived there since the 12th century. Eltz Castle is the only castle in the Eifel region that has never been destroyed and remains perfectly preserved. The castle is situated on a rocky ridge 70 meters (230 feet) high, surrounded by the Elzbach River, a tributary of the Moselle River to the north.
