Xiamen Travel Review: Gulangyu One-Day Course, an Island Full of Romance and Leisure

#July Travel Support Fund The most memorable day during my trip to Xiamen was definitely my visit to Gulangyu. It is a small island that can be reached by boat from Xiamen in about 10 minutes, and there are no cars, so you can only explore it on foot. The entire island is filled with European-style buildings, making it feel like you’ve come to another world. I went in early in the morning, walked through the quiet alleys, and first visited the Piano Museum. I was able to see rare pianos from all over the world, and the exhibition hall with classical music was very emotional. I had a light lunch at a seafood restaurant in the center of Gulangyu, and took a short break at Sukjanghwawon. The tea time in the space where the pond and garden were in harmony was quite nice. In the afternoon, I went up to Ilgwangam to look at the island and Xiamen mainland, and the wide-open view was unforgettable because the weather was good. After coming down, I slowly visited small souvenir shops and cafes, and finally, I watched the sunset on the Gaoliangseo Trail. Gulangyu is an island that is perfect for a day trip, but also one that will leave a lasting impression.
