Seashells, Sunshine, and Seafood: A Day in Yantai

Located on the eastern coast of China, Yantai is a charming seaside city full of surprises. I spent a day there soaking in the salty breeze, tasting delicious seafood, and exploring hidden gems. My first stop was Yantai Hill, where I climbed the old lighthouse and enjoyed a panoramic view of the blue sea and distant ships. The area had a peaceful vibe, with seagulls flying overhead and waves gently crashing against the rocks. For lunch, I headed to a local seafood market and picked out some fresh scallops and prawns. They were cooked right in front of me—simple, but incredibly tasty. Yantai is famous for its seafood, and now I understand why! Later, I took a stroll along the beach and found tiny seashells sparkling under the sun. I also visited the Changyu Wine Museum to learn about Yantai’s history as China’s first wine-producing region. A glass of chilled white wine was the perfect way to end the day. Yantai is not a big tourist hotspot, but that’s what makes it special. It’s quiet, scenic, and full of local charm. If you ever want a relaxing day by the sea with great food and friendly people, Yantai is the place to be.
