Prambanan

Prambanan was one of the most stunning attractions I visited during my trip to Yogyakarta—it’s truly spectacular! This is a 9th-century Hindu temple complex, with incredibly intricate architecture and towering main spires that exude grandeur. Seeing it in person is absolutely breathtaking. The entire temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and its walls are adorned with exquisite carvings that depict stories from the Ramayana. These carvings showcase the exceptional craftsmanship of ancient Javanese artisans. Visiting in the afternoon is perfect, as you can witness the sunset casting a golden glow over the temple, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. There’s also a chance to watch a performance of the Ramayana ballet, which I highly recommend.
