Yuhucun Village after a snowfall resembles a fairy tale world.

Yuhucun Village is located about 18 km north of Lijiang Old Town, nestled at the southern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, at an altitude of about 2,700m. In the Naxi language, it is called "Wulukeng," meaning "the village at the foot of the snow mountain." The village is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, meadows, and forests, offering magnificent scenery. The houses in Yuhucun Village are built with local glacial stones, featuring thick walls and slate roofs, creating a simple and rustic style, earning it the name "Stone Village." This type of architecture offers protection from wind, earthquakes, and cold, serving as a living fossil of traditional Naxi architecture. The village is built against the mountain, with winding lanes and streams flowing through it, blending seamlessly with nature. Major attractions include Yuhucun Lake (Dragon Girl Lake), a natural lake above the village, formed by the meltwater of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain's glaciers. The lake's clear water reflects the snow mountain, offering different scenery throughout the four seasons. The vast meadows by the lake are popular for hiking, horseback riding, and photography. The Yuzhu Qingtian Scenic Area, located near the village, features ancient temples, cliff carvings, and clear springs in a tranquil environment. This is a paid scenic area, but it was closed on the day of our visit due to heavy snow. Yuhucun Village is free to enter. Visitors can only reach the downhill visitor center by car. There are sightseeing buses to Dragon Girl Lake, or you can walk uphill to the lake, which takes about an hour. There are many restaurants in the village with reasonable prices. Yuhucun Village appears even more rustic after a snowfall, resembling a fairy tale world. Transportation: From Lijiang Old Town, you can take a taxi or drive yourself (about 40 minutes). You can also take bus No. 17 or the tourist shuttle bus to the parking lot at the visitor center.
