1 Night, 2 Days in Zermatt: The Magic of the Alps

I spent 1 night and 2 days in Zermatt, the jewel of the Swiss Alps. This destination is perfect for a short trip, offering convenient travel without a car, breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, and a cozy atmosphere. Day 1: First Encounter with the Matterhorn I stayed at Hotel Alpenhof, which boasts an incredible view of the Matterhorn. In the afternoon, I took the highest mountain railway in Europe to the Gornergrat summit (3,089m). The snow-covered Matterhorn and the glacier views from the observation deck made for unforgettable photos. For dinner, I enjoyed traditional Swiss cheese fondue and raclette at Restaurant Schäferstube in the town center. Day 2: Morning in the Alps and a Scenic Walk Watching the sunrise over the Matterhorn from the hotel balcony was magical. Early in the morning, I hiked the trail connecting five lakes. The reflection of the Matterhorn in Stellisee Lake was absolutely stunning! (A bus is available for part of the route.) After hiking down from Riffelalp, I wrapped up the trip with Swiss chocolate and coffee at a local café. Zermatt is a place where you can experience the essence of the Alps even on a short trip. Next time, I’d love to stay longer to enjoy skiing or a spa retreat!
