Review of Einsiedeln: A City of Faith
If you're looking for a peaceful getaway near Zurich that is rich in culture and natural beauty, "Einsiedeln" is the perfect answer! I had the chance to visit this charming town for 2 days and 1 night, and I must say... this small town brought an unexpected sense of tranquility to my heart. 🍂

⛪ First Stop: Einsiedeln Abbey – The Monastery of Faith
The moment I stepped into the grounds of Einsiedeln Abbey, it felt like I had entered another world. The Baroque-style architecture of the church is absolutely stunning, and the highlight is the "Black Madonna," enshrined in the Chapel of Grace inside the church. The serenity and energy of this place kept me sitting there longer than I expected, soaking in the inner peace it offered.
In the evening, I had the chance to listen to the monks sing "Salve Regina." It was spine-tingling as their harmonious chants echoed throughout the church.

🥾 Strolling Along Monkstrail + Teufelsbrücke
The town also features the "Monkstrail," a path that takes you through key points of the abbey, and the historic "Teufelsbrücke" (Devil's Bridge), which, according to legend, was built by the devil! The surrounding scenery is filled with beautiful pine forests, making the walk incredibly enjoyable.

🍪 Tasting Local Delicacies: Lebkuchen & Schafbock
While wandering around town, I came across several shops selling local treats. I tried "Lebkuchen," a gingerbread-like pastry that was fragrant with spices and delightfully soft—not overly sweet. The "Schafbock" (goat-shaped cookies) were crispy, buttery, and so delicious that I couldn't stop eating them.
✨ Personal Impressions
Einsiedeln is not a big city. It doesn't have luxury malls or high-end brand stores, but it offers something rare in big cities... peace and faith. This place allowed me to rest both my body and mind, as if resetting myself to regain energy.
