⛪ Church of Peace in Jawor – A Wooden Masterpiece of Resilience
Located in the quiet town of Jawor, Poland, the Church of Peace is the largest timber-framed religious structure in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1654–1655 under severe restrictions (no nails, bricks, or towers allowed), it’s a stunning achievement of Baroque architecture using only wood, straw, and clay.
Inside, you’re greeted by richly decorated galleries, an ornate pulpit, and over 180 vibrant biblical paintings. Despite its modest exterior, the interior is awe-inspiring—layered in light and history. It offers a peaceful, almost sacred atmosphere away from crowds.
🎟 Entry fee: ~12 PLN (~€3)
🕒 Open: April–October, Mon–Sat 10:00–17:00, Sun 12:00–17:00
📍 Address: Kościelna 8, 59-400 Jawor, Poland
