“Khao Pho Ta Chong Dong”, the highest mountain in Ranong
One forest, 3 seasons, 3 views. Khao Pho Ta Chong Dong, some call it Khao Pho Ta Chong Dong, a peak with a height of 975 meters above sea level, located in Kaper District. This place is considered the highest peak in Ranong Province. It is a viewpoint that can see a 180-degree view. The view on the west side will see the Andaman Sea🌊 and various islands such as Koh Phayam, Koh Song, Myanmar. The east side is a complex mountain. The walking distance is about 3 kilometers.
Take a foveel from the black road up the mountain for 5 kilometers, taking about 45 minutes. When you reach the starting point, this is a leech forest. It must be happy that there are rarely humans coming in 😅 The path is made of cement made by the villagers, but you can hardly see the path. It is covered with leaves. It is considered an easy walk at first. Walk to admire the raw nature 🍂 There are mushrooms, flowers, grass, many kinds of ferns 🍄🌺🍃
.
Halfway through, it started to rain!!! ⛈ Brother Nut (our guide) said that it wouldn't rain hard, it would stop soon. Oh!!! No way, brother. It kept raining. When we stopped walking, leeches kept climbing up. But I really like the raw nature of the forest. It's so refreshing.
.
The origin of "Chongdong" is that the shape of the mountain peak looks like a boat ramp. In the past, when ships traveling from the Andaman Sea arrived at this area, they would see a high mountain peak standing out, looking like a boat ramp. The boatmen would immediately know that this was the Thai side.
.
I never thought that this time we were hiking, we would encounter such hot, rainy, cold weather and high humidity. How could we miss the sea of fog? Yes!! The fog was flowing. Plus, the campsite and the viewpoint were not far away. When I woke up, I walked to see the fog. I like the southern forest. It's so lush. I want you to try it once. Even though there are leeches who don't look cute. But you are the point that indicates the abundance of the forest.
.
"Khao Pho Ta Chong Dong" Enjoy the natural view of the forest, the sea of fog, and the Andaman Sea from a high angle.
