🌿 A trip around Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park, a natural paradise in eastern Thailand
Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park, which spreads across the border between Rayong and Chanthaburi provinces in Thailand, is a naturally rich area where tropical rainforests, clear streams, waterfalls, caves, and diverse wild plants and animals coexist. It was designated as a national park in 1975 and has a total area of about 84 square kilometers. It is easily accessible by car from Bangkok in about 3 to 4 hours, making it ideal for weekend nature exploration and family trips.
The biggest attraction of this park is Namtok Khao Chamao Waterfall. It is a beautiful waterfall consisting of eight tiers, and each tier is filled with clear emerald green water, where you can see small fish swimming. The third tier, "One Matcher," is particularly popular, and you can swim in it like a natural pool. There is a well-maintained trail, and it can be enjoyed as an intermediate level hike of about 1 to 1.5 hours one way.
For those looking for tranquility, we recommend Khlong Prakan Waterfall. You can observe the flow of the seven-tiered waterfall and the surrounding ecosystem of ferns, wild orchids, and butterflies. For those who want to feel like an explorer, there is Khao Wong Cave. This large limestone cave complex is a mystical space where nature and faith blend together, with Buddha statues, stalagmites, and bats.
The park also has an observation point called Pha Sawan, which offers a panoramic view of the vast forest and mountains. In the morning and evening, the mist rolls in, creating a fantastic landscape, making it a popular spot for photography lovers.
For accommodation, clean bungalows and campsites are available, and you can enjoy stargazing at night. There is also a well-equipped visitor center where you can receive environmental education and nature commentary.
