2025 Kurokawa Onsen Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

🕰️Operating Hours: 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM The village offers accommodations and onsen facilities, including private and shared baths, with separate areas for men and women. There are over 20 different hot spring baths available, and each hotel features unique ones. Even if you're not staying overnight, you can still enjoy the onsen. All the hotels are charming, and the entrance fee starts at 600 yen. We visited in June, and there weren't many tourists. While the shared baths are nice, the private baths are highly recommended as they were completely empty during our visit. We arrived around 4 PM, and the restaurants in the area served delicious food at reasonable prices.

Kurokawa Onsen is a must-visit! There are many hot spring inns, and even just one corner here is enjoyable! At Yamanoyu, which I visited this time, you can even enjoy irori kaiseki! (Limited quantity) It's exciting to have an experience that you can't usually have! Yukatas also tend to get smelly, so it's a nice touch that they prepare a replacement yukata👍 Also, there are about four hot springs in the building, so you can enjoy a different hot spring every time! In addition, it even includes a midnight snack (inari sushi)! 💰Price per person: In my case, it was about 20,000 yen for one night with two meals during the busy season! Kurokawa Onsen is also lit up at night, so you can take a walk at night after eating your fill! (The lighting varies depending on the season) Kurokawa Onsen is dotted with small shops! Even if you're staying overnight, you can enjoy it because there are restaurants! There are also shops that are open until late at night, so it's useful when you get hungry! ❄️Getting There ❄️ Catch the Highway Bus from Fukuoka Hakata Station to Kurokawa Onsen (book via Willer ¥3,470 one way) ❄️Attractions ❄️ Kurokawa Onsen Yu Akari Illuminations along the creeks is absolutely breathtaking at night. The whole town is quiet and perfect for a leisurely stroll. ❄️Hotels ❄️ Yukyo no Hibiki Yusai - one of the best ryokan I've stayed in Japan. Hotel provides free breakfast, dinner at a fee and free pickup and dropoff at the bus stop (they'll wait for you at the bus stop even without you requesting). The ryokan itself is at a walkable distance of 5-10minutes to the bus stop, foods and the creek. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Beautiful onsen overlooking the creek and covered with bamboo. ❄️Food & Restaurants ❄️ 🍃 Tofu Kissho - Vegetarian friendly (open only for lunch) with assortment of tofu dishes. Recommended! 🍮 Patisserie Roku - Hands down best milk pudding and cake I've tasted in Fukuoka. Definitely give the chocolate aso milk pudding and mochi cake a try!
