What a wonderful holiday it was spending time in a coastal city like Lianyungang. The fresh air was exhilarating. Being an island girl is was a wonderful relief to get away from my city and have a feel of the beautiful sea breeze. There are many forms of transportation ranging from local buses, DiDis, taxis, hellobike .etc. There are many scenic areas and they are all fully equipped with good and drink kiosks. Just like any other city there are international shopping stores , restaurants like KFC, McDonald, Pizza Hut .etc., Minios, Wanda Plaza and many others so you don’t need to worry about anything. In part of the old Lianyungang train station is a museum to the railway line and station itself. This station was once very important for goods to and from the port as well as tourists visiting the city. There are still some fast trains which run from the station. The museum itself is very thoughtful with some interesting exhibits. For example, some stories and history of the railway workers in Lianyungang and some photos of the station in past years. There is also an interesting exhibit about China’s fast train network and its impact. In May holiday the museum was completely empty and the staff member managing the museum was very helpful and friendly. Lianyungang train museum is a good choice to do something a little different and cultural in the city apart from just the beach.

I must say my first trip to Lianyungang City in Jiangsu Province was an awesome experience. The weather was cool and the people were warm and friendly. I visited during the Labor Day holiday and despite the crowds I had a wonderful time. Dressing up amidst that incredible scenery made for phenomenal pictures and a real sense of connection to the history and spirit of the place. A must-do for a unique memory! Another incredible moment was feeding the resident monkeys (safely, of course, from designated areas!). Seeing these playful creatures up close in their mountain habitat was thrilling. Remember to keep a respectful distance and only offer approved food if available – it's their home! And the MOUNTAIN ITSELF! Words can't describe the awe I felt standing among the giant, ancient trees and gazing at the sheer granite peaks piercing the clouds. The views from the various peaks are simply mind-blowing. The scale and raw beauty of Huashan's landscape, especially those towering trees clinging to the cliffs, left me speechless. Tips: if you’re not professional hiker there is a bus to take you to the top of mountain and its easier to walk back down to the gate.
