I definitely recommend to walk the Great Wall at Jinshanling. Start at the East entrance and walk towards the main entrance. Yes it is not an easy walk but defenitely worth it! I experienced the Great Wall walk more as a Great Steps walk BTW 😉 Wear solid shoes! We started at 16:00 and walked towards the west, the Sun went down at 19:00. Sunset is amazing and walking this moment of the day makes you feel a unique person on the Wall!

Located in Luanping County, Chengde, Hebei Province, bordering Miyun District of Beijing, Jinshanling is only a 2-hour drive from downtown Beijing. For those who prefer to avoid the crowds at popular attractions, Jinshanling is a godsend. With its wide-open views, densely packed watchtowers, and undulating landscape, the scenery is simply breathtaking. It's also refreshingly free from excessive commercial development, earning it the reputation of being the "most beautiful section of the Great Wall." Especially in April and May, when wildflowers bloom across the mountains, it's an ideal choice for a spring hike. It's also a photographer's paradise. The rugged mountain surface combined with the good weather and the atmosphere of the people was amazing. we took bus N08. this dropped us off right at the tourist office. The bus only contained 10 people, but when we arrived it was packed with Chinese tourists. They all come to hike, picknick or just enjoy the views as well. it was busy, but not too busy. entrance ticket it 65Yuan, which is a bit more than other parts of the wall. bus was 50rmb 1 way.
