Jietai is one of the oldest temples near Beijing. Constructed more than 1,400 years ago, it is an important Buddhist temple. Jietai also is known as the Ordination Altar Temple because it’s where monks and nuns achieved their highest status. Located about 22 miles outside of Beijing, Jietai is affiliated with the Lu Sect of Buddhism and is the largest ordination temple in China. There are a number of halls devoted to Buddhist deities. Check out the vegetation, including five ancient pine trees and the 1,000 lilac trees that offer a fragrant, splendiferous scene in the spring. Lying just to the west of Beijing, Jietai Temple only takes 45 minutes to get to from the center of the capital. Simply hop on a subway to Pingguoyan Station; from here, it is just a short bus ride away on line 948. | Location Included. Went to Mentougou for the weekend and found a free campsite⛺! The campsite has clean, photogenic tents and stoves, all free to use😎. . Right next to the campsite is a small river🌊 with shallow water, shaded by trees🌳. Adults camp nearby while kids can play in the water without getting sunburned. There’s also a tap inside for washing, very convenient～ Next to the campsite, there are trampolines, a human-powered roller coaster, and a small zoo🐰, all available to play! In the village, there’s the former residence of Ma Zhiyuan and some interesting cultural and creative shops to explore. If you want to stay overnight, there are also homestays. This time we stayed at Xuanhe Gudao Mountain Residence in the village. . ⚠️⚠️⚠️You can camp for free without spending money, but just confirmed: since the shop is newly opened and to save costs, the gate is closed on weekdays. If you want to camp on a weekday, you can ask me for contact info and notify in advance, they will open the gate for you. ⚠️⚠️⚠️To reiterate: you can enter and camp for free without buying anything, just notify in advance if you go on a weekday! On weekends, just go directly! However, tents are limited; if there are no tents left, you can set up your own! There’s plenty of open space for pitching tents! . 👉 How to enjoy You can come in the morning and visit Ma Zhiyuan’s former residence first. Have lunch at "Gudao Slow Roast House." Come back around 4 PM to play in the water and camp. You’ll have a comfortable day. PS. Around 4 or 5 PM, the shadows of tree branches are cast on the tents, super! super beautiful!! . This time we had lunch at Gudao Slow Roast House. After chatting, we learned this place belongs to the Slow Roast House and is currently open to the public for free👏, big thanks to the owner😎! Have to praise, the food at Slow Roast House is really good! First, the newly opened set meals are very affordable, it feels like a steal😂. The kitchen is open, and you can see their carefully crafted grills, hard not to love! The meat is smoked with wood a day in advance🥩, the smoked beef brisket is a must-try! Tender and not greasy, so fragrant!! Even someone who doesn’t like meat ate a lot and was super satisfied🥰! There’s also pita bread paired with grilled sausages, amazing! Plus pickled cucumbers and various marinades, a perfect match. Eating carbs + fat while looking at the distant mountains, so chill you don’t want to go home😎 .

Nearby, you can also visit Tanzhe Temple and enjoy a comfortable little hike🍃. 🌿 The loft room features large floor-to-ceiling windows that can be fully opened, making the space airy with great views of the opposite mountain🏔. The projector gets frequent use, and both breakfast and à la carte dinners are exquisite and varied. 🌿 The room is fully equipped with a coffee machine☕️, kettle, various glassware, and complete bathroom amenities. The Ancient Terraced Fields of Weizishui Village are a historic agricultural landscape located in Yanchi Town, Mentougou District, Beijing, China. Dating back to the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, these terraces have a history of nearly 600 years and cover an area of approximately 1,200 acres, making them a rare example of contiguous dryland terraces in Beijing. The terraces stretch from 300 to 700 meters above sea level, following the mountain contours, and together with the ancient village, reservoir, and stone bridges, they form a picturesque landscape. The earliest reclamation of these terraces can be traced back to the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty, when the ancestors of the Gao family built stone embankments to create farmland to solve survival challenges. Over generations of expansion, the terraces reached their current scale. They bear witness to the evolution of agricultural civilization from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the present day, with relics such as stone embankments and ancient wells still preserving their original appearance. Start from Junxiang Village, pass Qilifen to Aoyu Valley, then go to Donghulin, and finally return to Junxiang Village. The whole journey is 14 km and takes about 5 hours. 🚌 Public transportation: You can choose to get off at Qilifen and then walk into the scenic area. After looking at many options with my friends, we finally decided on this private hot spring homestay in Mentougou. It was a wise choice! 📍Location: The homestay is on Tanwang Road, Tanzhe Temple Town, Mentougou District, very close to Tanzhe Temple, about a 5-minute drive. It's also convenient to go to Tangu Slow Flash Park and Jietai Temple, which are 15 and 25 minutes away by car, respectively. 🏠Environment: The entire homestay is decorated in a Chinese style. As soon as you walk into the Chinese courtyard, you feel like you've traveled back in time to a small Jiangnan courtyard, full of oriental charm. The courtyard is elegantly decorated, and there's a mountain-view terrace where you can look out at the distant mountains⛰️. Each of the 6 guest rooms has its own unique features, and each has a separate wet and dry bathroom, smart bathroom, and private hot spring pool, which is very important for someone like me who loves cleanliness! 🛏Room: We stayed in the "Dang Kang" suite on the first floor, with a 2x1.8m large bed that was super comfortable to sleep in, and a private hot spring in the courtyard. At night, soaking in the private hot spring, surrounded by a quiet courtyard, looking up at the night sky, I felt all the pressure was released.
