Getting There - From Manila, you can go to Paoay Ilocos Norte in two ways: by plane and by bus. By Plane You can book a flight from Manila to Laoag which is the gateway to Paoay, Ilocos Norte. From the Laoag Airport, Paoay Church is 45 minutes to an hour away. Vans and tricycles are available outside of the airport. By Bus From Manila, ride a bus bound for Laoag. There are hourly bus rides to Laoag via Farinas, Florida and Partas. Some buses take you directly to Paoay. Travel time from Manila to Laoag by bus is around 10 to 12 hours. From the bus terminal, Paoay Church is 45 minutes to an hour away. Antique house?? This was the resident of former President Ferdinand Marcos during his reign, it was found in Paoay Ilocos Norte, which now converted into historic Museum and now famously known as Malacañang of the North. During our road trip in Ilocos region, 8-10 hours drive from Manila, we drop by and see this beautiful house. Almost all the appliances were preserved, most of the wood and textiles are made of Narra, the national tree of the Philippines and the windows are really the old style. At first, I thought of taking a plane, but in the end I chose to rent a car to go by myself because it is convenient and I can still stop by to visit places along the way. Estimated cost Car rental: Starting at 1,400 - 2,000 pesos per day, depending on the type of car Gasoline cost: Around 2,000 - 3,000 pesos (round trip) Toll and parking fee: Around 300 - 500 pesos Overall, the cost per trip for a car rental with a driver will be around 5,000 - 8,000 pesos (depending on the duration and conditions of the company) I rented a Fortuner and exited online and used GPS all the way. Along the way, we were able to stop at various places, such as Vigan City (a world heritage site) and various viewpoints along the way, which were worth visiting. When we arrived in Laoag, our destination was Paoay Sand Dunes, where they offer 4x4 dune driving and sandboarding, which was a lot of fun! For me, it is a very worthwhile trip. 🚗 Route and road conditions Leave Manila via NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) connecting to SCTEX and TPLEX. Passing through Tarlac, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur before entering Ilocos Norte. Most of the roads are expressways and highways. Good condition, easy to drive. But the end of the road may be a two-lane road. ⛽ Rest stops and facilities There are gas stations (Shell, Petron, Caltex) and restaurants along the way. when you think of sand dunes, one can probably think of the famous sand deserts of the middle east but I kid you not when I sya that you can also find it here in the Philippines! yes, you got it right. here in Paoay, you can find the famous sand dunes. if you an extreme seeker like me, then I suggest you ride on the 4x4 experience! 5 of your friends can already experience the very erratic and exciting 4x4 route plus you get to experience free sand slides via a trusty board! for this trip, we booked a travel and tours which took us to the sites of Ilocos province. Paoay Sand dunes is one of the top destinations so we would not miss it for the world! for just 2500 for the ride, it was an experience worth your penny!

#Must-see historic site [San Agustin Church of Paoay] 📍Marcos Ave, Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines This is the historic PAOAY cathedral built in 1710 during the Spanish colonial period! It is a building in the Baroque style that was popular at the time, and it has enough historical value to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. My personal tip is that it is too hot during the day, so I recommend visiting early and buying a sandwich or something from a nearby cafe and eating it in the park in front💕 Don't forget to take a picture next to the PAOAY stone!!! Some days the interior of the church is open to the public, and some days it is not, so I recommend checking in advance and going!

In addition to its baroque architecture, Paoay Church is renowned for its historical significance and significance. The enormous buttresses of the historic church are a prominent feature of the building's distinctive architecture. Two major earthquakes damaged parts of the church. a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ancestral Diner is one of my favorite places near San Augustine Church, which is surrounded by a plethora of other eateries. Puto bongbong and jambalaya rice are two of my favorite dishes. This is a fantastic spot to spend time!!! When in Ilocos Norte, this is a must-see location for photographers. There are a number of excellent restaurants just a short walk from the church.

I always loved to go to Paoay even before pandemic and when that dreams finally came true, smile never left my face for the entire duration of my stay there.
