Located in Inthapramun Subdistrict, built in the Sukhothai period, it is home to one of the largest and longest reclining Buddha statues in Thailand.
The history of Wat Khun Inthapramun is interesting. It was built in the late Ayutthaya period. There is a story that Khun In, a government official in charge of taxes, was punished by execution for using taxes to renovate the reclining Buddha statue. The locals therefore called this temple "Wat Khun Inthapramun". It was renovated during the Rattanakosin period and was registered as a national historic site in 1935.

Khun Inthapramun Temple, Ang Thong
Wat Khun Inthapramun, Ang Thong Province
🙏This is an ancient temple built in the Sukhothai period. It is home to one of the largest and longest reclining Buddha statues in Thailand, called “Phra Si Mueang”, which is 50 meters long. It was originally enshrined in the chapel but was burned down, leaving only the reclining Buddha. It has a beautiful Buddha image and a smiling face, looking calm and cool.
🌿There is a shrine to the statue of Khun Inthapramun and a human skeleton that was excavated in the area of the reclining Buddha chapel. It is lying face down with its hands and feet tied behind its back. It is believed to be the skeleton of Khun Inthapramun. According to history, he was a tax collector who built the reclining Buddha by embezzling government funds to build it as a religious site. When the king found out, he asked about the source of the money used in the construction. Khun Inthapramun refused to tell the truth, so he was whipped to death. This is where the name of the temple comes from.
💐An old chapel and an octagonal pagoda Located on a hill with a brick dam about 2 meters high, the art and architecture are in the Ayutthaya period.
🌷 The new Ubosot is a 2-storey Ubosot with escalators and elevators, so much so that it is called the Hi-Tech Church. On the 2nd floor, there is a large principal Buddha image, or Phra Phutthamongkhonchindaphonphith. In addition to the large principal Buddha image, this Hi-Tech Church also has mural paintings telling the story of the temple.

Reclining Buddha
#watphobangkok
"Stepping into Wat Pho and seeing the Reclining Buddha took my breath away! The sheer size—46 meters long—makes it feel almost surreal. The intricate details on the feet, with mother-of-pearl inlays, are mesmerizing. It gets crowded, but the atmosphere remains peaceful. Walking around the statue, I could feel the deep spiritual significance. The golden glow of the statue against the temple’s decor is unforgettable. A must-see in Bangkok, and photos don’t do it justice! Just remember to dress modestly and be prepared for some walking."

This trip was like other trips: focusing on nearby places, tired from driving far, so we chose Ang Thong Province as our destination.
🛕Wat Khun Inthapramun is a must-see if you come to Ang Thong Province. It is an old temple with a very large reclining Buddha. In the temple area, between the walk to the large reclining Buddha, there is a local wisdom market selling local products at reasonable prices, and some of them are hard to find. In addition to selling products, there are also performances by students who busk for us.

Wat Khun Inthapramun is a famous temple in Ang Thong province. There is a large reclining Buddha. According to history, there used to be a church covering it but it was burned down.
I personally thought it was a temple in Ayutthaya province because the shape of the monk is like an ancient Buddha. And in the temple area, there are still old buildings, Sala Kao Kae, and everything is like Ayutthaya.
The way to get there is right on the road to Pho Thong district. There is convenient parking inside the temple.

The area is rented by the villagers to farm. The villagers in that area said that there was a mysterious story that at night there was a woman in a Thai dress dancing to the sound of a piphat orchestra.
