A Slow Day in Akashi – Castles, Calm Parks & Peach Shaved Ice
#cityplaybook
Just a short ride from Kobe, Akashi is a lovely place to slow down and enjoy a more local side of Hyogo. With historic spots, green spaces, and cute cafés, it’s perfect for a laid-back day trip.
I started my day at the Akashi Castle Ruins, where stone walls and wide lawns create a peaceful backdrop. Right next to it is Akashi Park, a spacious area great for walking, people-watching, or just sitting under the trees.
I also stopped by Kakinomoto Shrine, a small but beautiful spot tucked into the greenery. Quiet, spiritual, and full of charm—it felt like a hidden gem.
To wrap things up, I visited Cafe Makomi and had the peach shaved ice. Fluffy, fruity, and super refreshing. The café itself is cozy and welcoming—exactly what you want at the end of a long walk.
Why I recommend Akashi:
・It’s a calm, uncrowded escape with a mix of history and nature
・Local cafés and quiet corners make it ideal for solo travelers or a chill day out
