A one-day trip to experience the traditions and nature of Amami Oshima! First, we went to 📍Oshima Tsumugi Village for a dyeing experience. Oshima Tsumugi, a traditional craft representative of Amami, is characterized by its deep black-brown dyeing using a unique technique called mud dyeing. Under the guidance of a craftsman, we tried tie-dyeing by ourselves, and completed a one-of-a-kind piece. We were moved by the feeling of Amami's nature and culture in each process! Next, we went to 📍Amami Marine Exhibition Hall Here, we could feed sea turtles, and observe them closely up close. I went to Kanai Kogei in Amami Oshima to do some mud dyeing! You can experience mud dyeing and indigo dyeing for 3000 yen! (Bring 3 items) I think the number could have been increased by adding an extra fee! Even if you don't bring anything, Kanai Kogei also has T-shirts and tote bags ✨ Of course, I recommend making a reservation in advance ☺️ This time I remade a stained T-shirt! I was excited to see what color it would turn out The process of dyeing was fresh and very fun 😌🌼 The weather was nice, so I finished the work, hung it out to dry, and about 3 hours later I was happy to have my favorite T-shirt reborn 🌿 I recommend it when you're having trouble with activities in Amami ☺️ @0 yen trip

Amami Oshima, with its spectacular coastline and rich virgin forests, has a unique charm. I will introduce the spots I visited this time along with my experiences. ⚫︎Kinsakubaru Primeval Forest A famous spot as the location for the movie "Godzilla vs. Mothra". It looks like Japan, but it's not Japan. The freshness of the trees and the plants you've never seen before make you think Godzilla might appear. You can hear the birds singing. Since 2019, it has become mandatory to have a certified guide accompany you on this tour. However, there are set times when you can see it. [At low tide, when the waves are calm an hour before and after] It's not a view you can see at any time, so be sure to check the low tide times before going to see it. ⚫︎Kagambana Sunset Only for a few days before and after the spring and autumn equinoxes, you can see the sun completely enter the "Kagambana Tunnel." We went to Amami Oshima in October. My partner is a wheelchair user with hemiplegia, so the biggest problem we had was whether there was a multi-purpose toilet when we went on a trip. We couldn't get from the parking lot to Heart Rock in a wheelchair. A normal wheelchair can't go on the beach, and there are branches and a slight difference in elevation even on the beach, so unfortunately we gave up. This often happens when you're in a wheelchair. The sea, sky, and plants were like a different world that I'd never seen before. The plants in Tanaka Isson's paintings and the sky's clear color, so clear that you can't tell the difference between the color of the real sea and the color of the postcard. The sound of the wind, the birds, the insects... The natural nature of Amami makes you forget time. The Seto Inland Sea where we stayed had calm waves, and we spent a truly peaceful time with nothing happening, with only the moonlight illuminating the shore. At Mangrove Park, my partner and I were able to experience canoeing together. The staff helped us transfer. It's a mysterious island that makes you lose track of the day and time, so much so that I can't even remember the last time I was so wrapped up in nature and not thinking about anything. The "Ungyal Bowl" is a local bowl of rice on Amami Oshima, topped with fillets of Ungyalmatsu and tempura of seaweed, and is eaten with fish soup👍️ Ungyalmatsu is a type of blue sea bream, and is called Ungyal in Amami Oshima!! The soup was light and smooth with a strong dashi stock flavor!! #Travelwithme When you think of Amami Oshima, you think of mangroves! If you go there, you should definitely try it at least once! It was raining quite a bit that day, and although it did stop at times, we paddled a canoe in the pouring rain 🚣 I thought the rain was the worst, but it was precisely because of the rain that the water inside the mangroves sparkled and looked fantastic. The guide explained things to us as we went along, so it was safe, and canoeing is the only way to experience places that can only be reached by canoe, and the nature of Amami Oshima up close. You can experience mangrove canoeing in many places, but this time we went to the Mangrove Teahouse. We had plenty of free time, which was great! If you're going to Amami Oshima, I definitely recommend it!!
