Arlington in wintertime after a fresh snowfall is a stunningly beautiful place. The soft blanket seems to hug the ground and lay gently upon the graves of the fallen. If you come on a weekday in the afternoon there will be few people. The silence and stillness add yet another lay upon the complex emotions one feels standing in the presence of such human loss. One only hope these dead shall not have died in vain. #triplocal

I visited Washington D.C., the capital of the United States, during my trip to the USA. As the political center of the country, I had the opportunity to visit the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the graves of Korean War veterans at Arlington, and the Capitol. 1️⃣ The Lincoln Memorial is dedicated to the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, and is said to have been modeled after the Parthenon in Greece. 2️⃣ Right next to it stands the Washington Monument, which resembles an Egyptian obelisk and soars high into the sky. 3️⃣ There is also Arlington National Cemetery, where the graves of soldiers who fought in the Korean War are located. It is famous for the quote, "Freedom is not free." 4️⃣ Additionally, the Capitol in Washington D.C., which serves a similar function to our National Assembly, is a symbolic building that is not only expansive but also within walking distance from these locations. 5️⃣ As befits the administrative capital of the United States, Washington D.C. has a neat and clean image, and I highly recommend visiting this well-ordered city.

Covering an area of 2.6 square kilometers, Arlington National Cemetery was originally the estate of Confederate General Lee. Today, the highest point of the park still has General Lee's former residence, overlooking the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The most well-known is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by sentinels, and the precise changing of the guard ceremony is very popular. There are also the graves of President Kennedy and the Challenger disaster victims.
