Hong Kong's famous egg tarts 🇭🇰 How could a foodie like us miss out? 😋 Today, the shop we went to try was Bakehouse, a famous egg tart shop that is always popular. Every time we go, there are always people queuing up. They have many branches (Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Wanchai, Stanley, Causeway Bay). Their shop doesn't only have egg tarts. They also have a variety of delicious-looking desserts for us to choose from to create our own cravings. 🤤
We had the opportunity to buy egg tarts from 2 branches: 1. Tsim Sha Tsui branch: We arrived at this branch at around 10:30 a.m. and waited in line for about 10-15 minutes before we could order desserts. We think this branch is quite crowded because it is a food district. The shop is near MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Exit A1, just 100 meters from the MTR. 2. Central branch: We arrived at this branch at 10:40 a.m. on the day we had to return to Thailand. There was no queue at the shop, so we could just walk in and buy. We were so happy (we had to buy at this branch because the tarts at Tsim Sha Tsui were sold out that day and had to be baked). This branch is a bit difficult to get to because it is about 450m from Central MTR Station Exit D2. It is a steep path, but the good thing is that there is an escalator next to the shop.
Menu ordered
- 🥧 Sourdough Egg Tarte (HKD12): A smooth egg tart with a pale yellow color and a slightly burnt edge. The base of the tart is sourdough dough (unique). The tart dough is thin and crispy. When you bite into it, it is so delicious! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The custard is soft and smooth on the tongue. We think the taste is not too sweet, just right. After eating it, we liked it so much that we ate 4 pieces instead of lunch and liked it so much that we brought 24 pieces back to Thailand. When we got back to Thailand, the egg tart was a bit soggy. Don't be alarmed, it's normal. When you eat it, put it in the convection oven or oven. The taste is still delicious, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside 💕
- 🍩 Vanilla Custard Doughnut (38 HKD): A large vanilla-filled donut with sugar coating. The dough is soft and fragrant. The cream is not too sweet. When eaten together, it goes together quite well.
Note: As for the sweetness, it depends on each person's preference. I think you have to try it yourself to know if it's too sweet or not.
