Geling is named after Ge Hong, the founder of Taoism in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, who built a fort here to make alchemy. Geling is connected to Baoshi Mountain in the east, Ziyun Cave in the west, West Lake in the south, and Huanglong Cave in the north. From the shore of the West Lake, when you come to the foot of Geling, you first see a yellow archway with a masonry structure. After passing the archway, climbing up the stairs, you will reach the mountain gate of Baopu Taoist Temple in a short while. The courtyard wall outside the gate undulates with the mountain, like a swimming yellow dragon, so it is called "Dragon Wall" and is one of the scenic spots of Baopu Taoist Temple. The main hall of Baopu Taoist Temple is Ge Xian Hall, in which the statue of Ge Hong is enshrined; on the east side of Ge Xian Hall is Hongmei Pavilion, which is a typical southern courtyard-style ancient building. The engraving gallery in the Hongmei Pavilion has preserved dozens of calligraphy and paintings of famous people of all dynasties. In recent years, Yuanchen Hall has been built to the east of Gexian Hall, which has shaped Taoist celebrities of all dynasties. When visiting this place, you need to take a good look at the Taoist Academy and Geling. After all, this can be regarded as a scenic spot where the mountains are not high, and there are immortals. As the saying goes, "Xiaoshuang listens to the phoenix bell, and the bright moon falls to the fishing port." It is not wonderful to be able to see the broken bridge and the boats on the lake.
