Hong Kong You Won’t Find on a Postcard
☀️ Morning in Tai Po — kicked off the day like a true local at Tai Po Hui Market Cooked Food Centre. The pork chop noodles? Absolute perfection — tender, juicy, with springy noodles. Right outside, found the smoothest, silkiest tofufa (豆腐花) — pure comfort in a bowl. 💯
🏖️ Midday escape to Shek O & Big Wave Bay — trading skyscrapers for sandy toes. A whole different Hong Kong out here — chill, breezy, and beautiful. Shek O’s laid-back vibes + Big Wave Bay’s surfers and salty air = total reset. 🌊☀️ You can even rent a tent or those super comfy beach lounge chairs (沙滩懒惰椅), set up right by the sea, and just do nothing.
🌅 Evening in Stanley — wandered through Stanley Market, then strolled the promenade with sea views, sunset, and a lazy dinner by the water. 🍻🍽️
🚍 Transport tips:
Public transport works well — MTR + buses + minibuses can connect the whole route. But routes/timetables may change, so check Google Maps, Citymapper, or the HK Transport app when you’re there.
If you’re traveling in a group of 4 people, hopping in a taxi is very doable — faster, flexible, and not too pricey when split. Especially handy between beaches like Shek O, Big Wave Bay, and Stanley.
This trip is more about sightseeing and soaking in the vibes, so go easy, take your time, and enjoy the slower side of HK. 🌴🩵
