[2025 Petaling Restaurant] Travel Guide for Chabashira Tea Roastery (Updated Jul)

#cityplaybook As a hardcore tea lover with a deep love for matcha, I was really excited when this place opened—it was one of the early names in Malaysia offering premium matcha, right alongside Niko Neko. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. I found the prices steep, especially considering the quality didn’t quite match the tag. The matcha lacked that rich umami depth I look for, and the cakes didn’t stand out either—even when price isn’t the issue. That said, the ambience is undeniably lovely. If you’re into that warm, wooden, Japanese-inspired aesthetic, it’s definitely worth a visit for the vibe more than the tea.

#kualalumpurtrip 📍Chabashira Tea Roastery 129, Jalan 20/7, Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya, Selangor Visited this Japanese tea room in Petaling Jaya and it was such a good find! It is a small café serving tea based drinks and desserts nestled in a shop lot of a quiet neighbourhood. The café is quiet and peaceful, it’s giving zen vibes! The interior was beautifully decorated, with wooden tables and white painted walls, and some cute ornaments here and there! We ordered their matcha shiratama zenzai (matcha with mochi and red bean paste with some gold flakes topping the red bean paste) and it was 10/10! Matcha has strong flavours and mochi and red bean paste complements and enhance the matcha really well! Such an amazing dessert, would love to revisit !

Muslim friendly japanese cafe. Excellent and friendly service. Was sitting near to counter, able to see the staff and chef all were interact like a big family. Wide selections of japanese matcha and tea from hot to cold or cold brew. The desserts all looking attractive and delicious. QR order and payment system. Had 4 items from their menu and all were so GOOD. #malaysia
