The station is a masterpiece of Beaux-Arts architecture, located on the edge of downtown Denver's business district. It coordinates light rail, commuter and intercity rail, bike and bus lanes, and pedestrian paths into an intuitive intermodal hub. The focal point of these new elements is an open-air train concourse, conceived as an efficient and formal means of protecting multiple rail tracks. The primary structural system consists of 11 steel "arch trusses" spanning nearly 180 feet, covered in a tensioned Teflon fabric. Viewed from the side, the canopy rises 70 feet at each end and drops 22 feet in the middle, a structural design that protects the passenger platforms below while maintaining clear view corridors and preserving views of the historic station.
