The Oriental Musical Instrument Museum of Shanghai Conservatory of Music has about 800 sets of musical instruments spanning over 8000 years, including ethnic musical instruments from more than 40 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, America, and Africa. It houses more than 40 ethnic musical instruments from the Tibetan, Miao, Manchu, and Yi minorities in Southwest, Northwest, and Northeast China.

👍Development History:
In 1984, the 'Chinese Ethnic Musical Instrument Exhibition Room' was established.
On November 27, 1987, it was officially opened to the public during the 60th anniversary of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, becoming the first musical instrument museum in our country's art colleges.
In 2001, the museum was renamed the 'Oriental Musical Instrument Museum', with the museum name inscribed by Comrade He Luting. It is now a 'National Ethnic Unity and Progress Education Base', 'Shanghai Patriotic Education Base', and 'Xuhui District Science Popularization Base'.
Since 2006, it has been open to the public for public welfare and has become a beautiful scenery in Shanghai's urban culture.
