Enmanji, a quiet and charming temple in Matsuyama
#JapanGuide
If you turn one alley from the main building of Dogo Onsen, you will come across a small temple that looks like a hidden gem. That is **Enmanji (圓満寺)**. As the name suggests, “all things will come true,” this is a power spot perfect for making wishes, including good luck in love.
In the quiet and neat grounds, there is a stone statue of the Great Earth Bodhisattva with a gentle smile in the center. In particular, this Bodhisattva is also called the “God of Hot Springs,” and there is a legend that when the water supply to Dogo Onsen was cut off, people prayed here and the hot spring water gushed out again.
However, the reason Enmanji is truly special is not just because of its tradition.
What stands out is the colorful Omusubidama (お結び玉) hanging all over the grounds. Each person’s wish and hope is contained in the small knot balls made of pretty colored thread. People who want to find love, people who want to meet new people, people who want to quietly organize their hearts—all of them tie up their warm hearts in this small temple. ⛩️ Enmanji (圓満寺) – Location & Hours of Operation
