#australiatrip A great hike through the Royal National Park. The walk down from the car park is fairly easy. Wear proper footwear as you will need to climb on some rocks to get there. No toilets, must bring plenty of water and always take away your rubbish with you! It was disappointing seeing the empty water bottles and wipes left behind from inconsiderate people. The walk back up is a little tough, but the views are all worth it! Magical spot

1.5 hours south coast of Sydney is where you will find this beauty. Crystal clear water, beautiful sand, an amazing park for the kids and world class fish & chips. This place is a picnicking dream. Hours of fun to be had or just sit and enjoy your surroundings. Wollongong is known as Sydney's backyard 🚘Travel method: Self-driving It is highly recommended to drive from Sydney to Wollongong, which takes about an hour. On the way, you will pass by the very famous temple "Nantian Temple" in Sydney. This is also the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere. It is very popular and has a sense of intimacy like returning home. It is worth stopping and taking a look inside. If you drive further towards Wollongong, you will reach the small town of Kiama. With blue sky and white clouds, sandy beaches and seagulls, you will really feel that time will slow down, and you will calm down and enjoy what nature has given you. 🚗 A Spontaneous Morning Adventure Early in the morning, our family packed a simple picnic basket and set off with great anticipation for the seaside city of Wollongong, located south of Sydney. The drive took about an hour and a half, accompanied by sunshine and stunning scenery where mountains meet the sea, lifting our spirits along the way. Upon arriving at Wollongong Beach, we were greeted by a vast expanse of shimmering ocean and pristine, fine sand. The sea breeze was perfectly mild, and the sunlight was just right. We chose a spot under the shade of a tree, laid out our mat, and prepared to enjoy a healing seaside holiday. 🏝️ Clean Sand and Gentle Waves What impressed us most about Wollongong Beach was the incredibly clean and fine sand. As soon as the kids reached the beach, they kicked off their shoes and started running around. Their little feet sank into the soft, warm sand, bringing smiles to their faces. Together, we built sandcastles, dug holes, and wrote our names in the sand, watching as the waves slowly erased them, as if reminding us that "every moment is the most beautiful in the present." The seawater had a hint of emerald green, and the gentle, rhythmic waves made it perfect for children to play in. Standing at the water's edge, letting the waves gently lap at our ankles, the cool water carried the joyful essence of summer. Just as we were enjoying our meal, an unexpected guest arrived—a seagull! The seagulls had already set their sights on our food, flying closer and observing from a distance. Some even boldly swooped down in an attempt to snatch a bite. Amid laughter and chaos, we scrambled to protect our food, and the kids were thoroughly amused by the situation. We had to admit, the seagulls added a unique touch of fun and memorable moments to our picnic. Eventually, we decided to pack away the more conspicuous food items, leaving only fruits and snacks. We set up a temporary small tent closer to the beach, enjoying a relaxed picnic while watching the ocean.
