You may not be familiar with Fufudingshan Temple, but Sanzhi Shell Temple is a popular attraction in Sanzhi District! Sanzhi Shell Temple is mainly dedicated to Living Buddha Jigong. Legend has it that the Jade Emperor imprisoned Jigong in the Dragon Palace under the sea. After the imprisonment, Jigong could not forget the beautiful scenery under the sea, and sent a dream to the current abbot. It took 2 years to build it with hundreds of kinds of corals and shells. It is very spectacular and artistic, with dazzling colors, just like the Dragon Palace under the sea. The patron saint here is "Ao Yu", with a dragon head and a carp body, which means praying for rain and suppressing fire. Due to land disputes, the Sanzhi Shell Temple will gradually move to the new "Coral Shell Temple" in Shimen.
