[2025 George Town Restaurant] Travel Guide for Good Friends Club (Updated Jul)

#hiddengems We visited the Good Friends Club bar the other day and found out that they've temporarily set up their bar at Drunken Gelato. Their old location is currently being renovated to make way for a newer and spunkier version of their bar. We actually really like that they've joined forces with Drunken Gelato! The gelato based cocktails were delicious, and the gelato itself was great too! The vibes were immaculate, people came pouring in as soon as the doors open at 8pm. Our favorite was Sirap Limao Ais with rose water infused gin. Try it for yourself! They will reopen at their old location (beside The Swagger Salon) in October 2023, so keep an eye out! This is the friendly atmosphere that makes this place special. The drink menu here is different from other bars because they creatively combine local ingredients with international cocktail recipes. For example, the "Laksa Negroni" is inspired by laksa curry, or the "Penang White Dai-Curry" has a white curry flavor that gives it a unique and intense taste. There is also the "Patpoh Old Fashioned" that uses herbal tea instead of ginger, and the "Smoky Leng Chai" that mixes milk tea and roasted coconut. #MarchGoodPlaces2025 This bar was recommended by a bartender in Malacca. The cocktails here are all infused with local Malaysian characteristics (such as cendol and durian), but my favorite is IpurpleU, a cocktail made with pandan leaves, purple rice and banana. The alcohol content is not high, which is suitable for people who want to have a drink but also like special cocktails.

My favorite is the second cup of chocolate-flavored negroni. Currently only open on April 4, May, and June, don’t miss out! Rating: 9/10 (Unfortunately only open for three days 😆) 2. Friends Club Address: 39, Jalan Gurdwara, George Town, 10300 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia Features: It happened to be a guest bar, and only the guest cocktail menu was available that day. This bar is very famous locally and the atmosphere is also great Rating: 8/10 (I have to try it next time, original wine list) 3. Round bar Address: 260C (Di Belakang, 262, Lebuh Carnarvon, George Town, 10100 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia Features: It’s a 2-minute walk from the hotel where I live, so I went there to try it out. Incorporate some local ingredients to develop wines, although martini espresso is what I want to drink most that day Rating: 8/10 Others include Backdoor bodega (next to my friend), Suckling pig (newly opened, only allowed to enter with someone) These two are also highly recommended (but I was too drunk to take any photos afterwards, just enjoying the moment ✌️

Good Friends Club is a hidden cocktail bar located at Jalan Gurdwara, Penang. They're known for their eclectic cocktail menu featuring local Penang ingredients and dishes. The bar recently moved back to their original establishment after renovation completed. We were recommended the Laksa Negroni, but it wasn't fitting for our tastebuds as the bitter aftertaste of ikan bilis left us not wanting more after a few sips... Rating (out of 5): 3.5
