The hotel is across from Happy Valley Racecourse, quite easy to get to! I chose a hotel package to stay one night including dinner, dinner was 3 courses quite a choice. The soup is pumpkin soup. It's full of ingredients, not just cream. It's very good! Not canned soup! The appetizer chose the crab seed salad fresh and tasty! The main course was steak unfortunately the rows were thick and thin on one side, it was difficult to control the time, the thin side welldone could not enter the mouth, the thick side medium rare super juice and beef flavor, a good meal. #colorfulday

This was a great experience in Hong Kong. I went to the Happy Valley Racecourse and the events there were truly amazing. I was mesmerized by the variety of the events and entertainments besides the horse race itself. It’s really fun to bet as well, as you are never sure who’s gonna win - most of the times favorites don’t win! In the second photo you can see the Game Master who spins a wheel for you and you have to complete the challenge on the wheel. My challenge was to spin the glass around my head, which I accomplished. Off the main tourism track is my way of travel. It allows me to not just see but also feel the country and place that I have walked across. Firstly the good old Mong Kok in the Kowloon side of Hong Kong, this is where you will find most of the 60-80s style buildings that are always featured in old HK films. There are a lot of featured points in Mong Kok that one can visit and do. For those loving a cheap deal, Ladies streets and the surrounding streets turn into flea markets when the sun sets. There are also a lot of eateries that offer traditional HK dining menus. But do note, dining in HK can feel like a rush experience as their fast pace of life extends to dining. So only call for the service staff when we have your order in mind, they really don't like any kind of delays. For those wanting to see something unique to HK, the Avenue of Comics is a good place to visit, just 5mins walk from Jordan MTR. It's an open park dedicated to HK comics history with status and palm prints of famous artists and creators. ChungKing Mansions, the famous place where you can get the cheapest lodging in the country and see a large variety of cultures from every part of the world inside. Many said it's dangerous inside, but it's actually quite safe if you don't go around poking into unwanted business. At the end of the waterfront walkway you will reach the Jetty where you can enjoy a boat ride for around HK$6 across the channel to the Hong Kong Island side of the country. Taking trams is the best way to travel around Hong Kong Island side, just a flat fee of HK$3 will get you from east to west. And also if you are feeling lucky, you can drop by the Happy Valley Racecourse for a visit. Back on Kowloon side, one of the history that one can visit is the remains of the famous Walled City, although not much remains aside from a few gates and some damaged foundations, there is a small museum that showcases the history of the Walled City from beginning to the day it's torn down. You can take the light rail to Happy Valley to the last stop and then walk about 10 minutes to the racecourse. Entrance G is free for visitors with a Taiwan Compatriot Certificate or passport. It is very convenient. Just follow the crowd and you will reach the entrance. My first time watching night time horse racing at the Happy Valley racecourse! It was definitely a special experience, hearing everyone scream the name or the number of the horse they support! It was much more enjoyable to watch it here than on TV! Love the vibe! Additionally, we've had dinner at the Leading Edge, which provides a set dinner, supper and free flow drinks! It was convenient for us to be able to enjoy the aircon and the food in between the races, while going out to the outdoor area to watch the race when ready. The food quality is satisfactory and the price is reasonable. The amount of the supper was surprisingly quite big as well! Currently, Happy Valley Racecourse mainly holds night horse racing events. When Sha Tin Racecourse was first opened, the transportation network was not perfect, the Kowloon-Canton Railway had not yet been electrified, and many roads and tunnels had not yet been built, making it quite inconvenient to enter and exit Sha Tin. In addition, there was only one grandstand that could accommodate 35,000 people. Therefore, the government has always used traffic problems and difficulties in crowd control as reasons to not approve the Jockey Club to hold races at Sha Tin Racecourse on important holidays, except for Sundays and the Queen's Birthday. Many events such as the opening day of the racing season, the last day of the racing season, New Year's Day, Chinese New Year and Easter must be held at the Happy Valley Racecourse. There are still more than ten Happy Valley Day Races every season. However, with the significant improvement in Sha Tin's external transportation conditions, the opening of the second grandstand of Sha Tin Racecourse and the relocation of all stables to Sha Tin in 1987, these events were gradually moved to Sha Tin. In recent years, there are only one or two Happy Valley Day Races per season, one of which is scheduled in late October or early November to allow Sha Tin Racecourse to lay winter grass. Otherwise, one Wednesday race day will be moved to Sha Tin.
