When I came to Inuyama in Aichi Prefecture, I took a half-day trip for a classic and fulfilling trip. I started in the morning and took a bus to Inuyama Station. I first walked along the old street. Haritsuna Shrine (Haritsuna Jinja), located in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture, is a historic shrine situated right next to the National Treasure, Inuyama Castle. While the exact date of its founding is unknown, the shrine boasts a history of over 1,000 years and is said to have originally been located on the castle hill of Inuyama Castle. After several relocations since 1537, it was moved to its current location in 1882. The main deity enshrined here is Owari Harinanemuraji no Mikoto, who is believed to grant blessings for safe childbirth, warding off evil, traffic safety, and fertility. Haritsuna Shrine is also listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho, a historical record of shrines, and has long been revered as the regional guardian shrine of the Nobi area. The shrine's annual festival, the Inuyama Festival, takes place on the first Saturday and Sunday of April each year. During the festival, 13 floats (known as "yama") parade through the city. This event was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property by the Japanese government in 2006 and was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016. The nighttime float procession, "Yoyama," is particularly enchanting, as the floats are illuminated by lanterns and surrounded by blooming cherry blossoms, creating a magical atmosphere. Haritsuna Shrine is accessible by a 15-minute walk from either Inuyama-Yuen Station or Inuyama Station on the Meitetsu Inuyama Line. Inuyama Castle, I visited it during the Lunar New Year this year. Because it happened to not be a holiday in Japan. So there weren't a lot of people visiting, so we were able to take very clean and beautiful photos. But the originally planned queuing route is very long and goes in circles. Fortunately, our schedule was not on a national holiday in Japan, because if we went to another shrine on a national holiday, we would not be able to get in because there were so many Japanese people praying. Even more fortunately, almost 80% of people celebrating the Lunar New Year this year are concentrated in Tokyo and Kyoto. 💞Reason for recommendation: It is recommended to buy a package ticket that includes tickets, train tickets and coupons for about NT$300. 🗓️Itinerary: There are many shops and snacks in Inuyama Joshita Town. Take the Inuyama Line from Nagoya for 30 minutes (690 yen) to Inuyama Yuen Station, then walk 15 minutes along the river to reach Inuyama Castle, one of Japan's national treasures. When entering the Inuyama Castle keep, you must remove your shoes, and the stairs are steep, so avoid wearing short skirts to prevent exposure! You can also rent a kimono for a photo shoot here. Walk 20 minutes to Inuyama Station (630 yen) to take the JR train back to Nagoya.
