[About the person on the banknote!] Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Museum
Although it has since been replaced, I went to the Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Museum, whose portrait appears on the old 1,000 yen bill!
When I think of Hideyo Noguchi, I only have the image of him as a researcher who was active around the world, and I didn't know that his hometown was Fukushima, or that he only returned to Japan once after traveling abroad.
His birthplace has also been preserved as a tangible cultural property, and it was a very atmospheric place.
There was a lot I didn't know about Hideyo Noguchi's achievements, so I learned a lot! If you're in Fukushima, be sure to stop by!
