Recommended Kid-Friendly Spots Near Jiaxing #28: Maming Village, Zhouquan, Tongxiang · Lotus Flowers
Maming Village has long intrigued me—a place shrouded in mystique and rustic charm. In my imagination, it’s the teahouse bustling at 4 a.m., the steaming bowl of mutton noodles at dawn, and the gentle patter of rain on ancient stone slabs. (More about the old street in the next post!)
Recently, I heard the nearby lotus flowers were in full bloom. After an hour’s drive, we arrived to find a stunning pond already awash with blossoms—well worth the trip!
Here’s a quick guide ❤️:
📍 **Location**: As pinned on the map. Just south of the fork in the road (see Pic 9), there’s a small parking lot on the west side, with the lotus pond directly east.
📍 **Best Time to Visit**: June 25th, and a section is already in full bloom! Officially, the season lasts until July. Since the old street is liveliest in the morning, the earlier you go, the better—plus, it’s cooler! Half an hour is plenty to stroll and snap photos. Don’t miss exploring the ancient Maming Old Street while you’re there.
📍 **Tips**:
🛣 **Road Conditions**: No need to worry about mud—even after rain. The paths are well-maintained, mostly paved with cement, stone, or wood. Perfect for kids, even with a 🚲!
🌞 **Sun Protection**: June/July sun is brutal. Hats, sunscreen, cover-ups—arm yourself and the little ones!
🍜 **Lunch**: By noon, the old street’s eateries were closed! Go early to enjoy a bowl of traditional noodles, or pack snacks.
Summer’s beauty owes 30% to lotuses—don’t miss this spectacle! With few lotus-viewing spots in Tongxiang, it’s a must-visit.
