[Odawara] Accessible from the city center ⭕️ Perfect for summer vacation! Easy-going sightseeing 🌻
From Odakyu Shinjuku Station to Odawara Station, it takes about 75 minutes by Odakyu Romance Car.
From JR Tokaido Line Yokohama Station, it takes about 46 minutes at the earliest, so it is easily accessible from the city center, and you can enjoy nature and sightseeing at a leisurely pace.
Odawara is close to the hot spring resort of Hakone and is famous for its specialty kamaboko, but it actually has many spots that parents and children can enjoy together! ✨
This time, I will share the spots that I stopped by on my solo trip that I felt would be fun for families.
[Odawara Castle]
🏯6-1, Jonai, Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture
🚶About 10 minutes walk from Odawara Station
🕔9:00-17:00 (last entrance 16:30), closed on the second Wednesday of December and 12/31-1/1
🎫Castle tower: 510 yen for adults / 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students. Other attractions include Tokiwagimon Gate (200 yen) and Ninja Museum (310 yen). ◎Combined tickets available.
👆The view from the reconstructed castle tower is spectacular! You can also try on armor and enjoy the Ninja Museum, making this a historical walking spot that will satisfy both children and adults. 🧭
[Star of Life Earth Museum]
🏛️499 Iryuda, Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, 250-0031
🚶About 3 minutes walk from Iryuda Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway
🕘9:00-16:30 (closed on Mondays)
🎫20-65 years old ¥520/15-20 years old ¥300/High school students and over 65 years old ¥100/Junior high school students and younger free
👆There are plenty of exhibits to learn about dinosaur fossils, insect specimens, animal taxidermy, volcanic activity, and geology. I felt that it would be interesting for a wide range of people, from children to adults. This museum is perfect for a visit alone, with the family, or during summer vacation!
[Suzuhiro Kamaboko no Sato]
🏬245 Kazamatsuri, Odawara, Kanagawa 250-0032
🚶A short walk from Kazamatsuri Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway
🕘9:00-18:00
🎫Free
👆When you pass through the ticket gates at Kazamatsuri Station, you will be greeted by many wind chimes. The water basin at the front entrance along National Route 1 is also cold, and it felt refreshing to both your eyes and ears during this hot summer. 🎐
It was also refreshing to be able to casually observe how kamaboko is made.
[Erenagosso CAFÉ 107]
📍245 Kazamatsuri, Odawara, Kanagawa 250-0032
🚶1 minute walk from Kazamatsuri Station on the Hakone Tozan Line
🕘10:00-17:00
👆The Hakone Tozan Railway's Moha 1-type No. 107, which was retired in 2019, is now open for use as a cafe. This time, I enjoyed the Odawara Plum Cider (¥350), perfect for summer, and the chikuwa bread (¥450) with plenty of cheese inside. There was also a buffet restaurant in the back, which was very lively.
[Odawara One Year's Snow]
📍 1-5-7 Hayakawa, Odawara, Kanagawa 250-0021
🚶 About 5 minutes walk from JR Tokaido Line "Hayakawa Station"
🕘 10:30-15:30 (Wednesdays closed)
🍧 ¥700~900
👆 I had shaved ice made with whole Irwin mangoes from Okinawa.
I also liked that I could adjust the sweetness by adding condensed milk to my liking. It came with a set of kombucha tea, so it was great after sweating 😂✨
